Racism has the associated context of coming from the majority population onto the oppressed, in the United States it’s perceived as the Caucasian to the various other minorities, and then again between minorities onto each other unfortunately.

When a sheltered person comes in contact with an ethnic person they have never met before they have nothing else but stereotypes to rely on. It is apparent that Ignorance has been the driving force behind comments of an offending nature. Ignorance has come in contact with a negative connotation, but it is in-fact just the absence of knowledge. In this case, Knowledge of reacting around ethnic people. In the classes I’ve been apart of at the university level I have been witness to many different ignorant accounts in relevance to the ignorance. It isn’t not just a question of the culture that an ethnic person comes from but the environment they come from as well. The environment shapes the person almost as much as the cultural influence. The environment creates the growing factor of that person outside of the home. The environment is everywhere the home is not, and that is where the personality comes from. Many ethnic minorities come from similar backgrounds for the mere fact that economically speaking, they are together in the same grouping, affording the same types of neighborhoods.

When a sheltered person has come from an equally sheltered environment it has become all they know. The sheltered person will not understand the person from the unfiltered background and visa-versa.

Greek Life, The Minority Report

The stigma of Greek life has been discussed many times over. The perception addressed, for the most part, is that of the traditional Organizations which are most commonly populated by the high-class Caucasian students.

The Greek community is separated by a variety of different classes but to the naked eye one might make a clear distinction by the ethnicity of the members included. There are a plethora of Greek organizations that are aimed at the membership of Minority students. These organizations serve as a catalyst for the success of a population of students with little representation in the academic community. They range from historically African-American organizations to Latino Organization to including Multicultural Organizations. They are the exploration of culture at university level, they push for the success and representation of minorities everywhere, not just on campus.

They serve as the support used to break down stereotypes at higher level of education where the free-form of thought is encouraged. These Organizations give off self-assessed Pride to any person, regardless of ethnic affiliation. These organization speak to the prominence of the need of pride and confidence in the self, in a world where doubt will always be perceived to be unloaded on the shoulders of those oppressed. they give a voice to the ethnic, they give a voice to those in struggling economic classes and they give a voice to those who need it, those who seek it.

The Relaxing Reality-Public Transportation and it’s philosophical benefits

The Public Transportation system is home to many different stories around many different people. Even in it’s silence there is an abundance told through wandering eyes and hand-movements. The public transportation offered to the students of my University serves as a look into the world after academia.

The Public Transportation offered near university campuses are the first real exposure most of the students will get to real world economic strife. It is no secret that for the most part students at a university level have been sheltered from the reality of economic hardship. The public transportation system is open to all and the majority of the passengers who are using it are under need-based circumstances. The single mother working to support her children, the Homeless man straggling in search of shelter, or the average-working man with no time for delays. These are the faces of reality, these are the faces of the real world effort to “succeed.”

The sheltered students of the academic community are only exposed to life on campus. These students have come in little to no contact with the harsh realities of the outside world. Students at a university level are on the path to establishing themselves in the world as a working part of society, however when first let free into the world they walk alone in their own uncertainty of reality. The public transportation system not only serves a a humbling factor but as a glimpse of what the society is really composed of.
